Chrome Bumpers

I have been looking at many of the pics posted on here over time. I really like the way the chrome bumpers look. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get them chromed and how much it typically costs?

Re: Chrome Bumpers

You will probably find that it is as cheap to buy bumpers that are already chromed, instead of having yours chromed or re-chromed. Last time I checked, it was gonna run me almost $175 to get my rear bumper re-done. This would be for chromium. There are places now that do cobalt plating. It's cheaper (I think) but moreso, it's an enviromentally-friendly process. It's real difficult for a start-up business to do chromium, due to the enviromental issues with chromium. Cobalt plating can be done on plastic, as well as metal.

I'm gonna stick with chrome, not cobalt, at this time.

Re: Chrome Bumpers

Kenny's Truck's carries them. And it's on the south side of Tulsa. They specialize in 60-72 chevy trucks.

You should probably call them because the prices change pretty often, but the recent catalog says bumpers cost:

Kenny's Trucks 918-827-2600

Front 67-70: 129
Front 71-72: 129
Front w/ fog lights: 175
Front GMC 69-72: 129
Rear 67-72: 129
Complete rear bumper kit: 245
(includes bumpers, brackets, bolts, tag bracket, light)

Re: Chrome Bumpers

The stock bumpers are made betterr than the repros, however, you'll end up spending 2 to 3 times as much to repair and rechrome your old ones, verses replacing them.

Re: Chrome Bumpers

I see them all the time at swap meets for about $110.00 but I imagine they are going to cost a bit more since the Chinese seem to be trying to corner the steel market.IMHO that is the best way to buy since there's no shipping or tax and you get to examine the bumper for flaws before you buy.

Re: Chrome Bumpers

if you buy a repo, just apply a couple coats of por-15 to the back of it first, and it will hold up well
