Is it possible for me to install a 4-point race harness and use seats from a 90-94 full size Chevy truck? I already have the seats and dont wanta have to get race seats.

Re: race harness with factory buckets
Best bet is to check your local laws. Many areas do not permit 4 point harnesses for use in street machines.
Yes the late model seats will work. You will need some floor bracing to make it safe though.

actually, that would fall under ederal law, but many cops have no idea how that works.
To install a 4 point haness properly in a truck like this, you'll have to start with a roll bar. |

Re: race harness with factory buckets
... or go THRU the seats and anchor the two shoulder belts to the floor BEHIND and UNDER the seats

Re: race harness with factory buckets
that would compress your spine in an accident, and this is exactly why these type of seat belts are not DOT aproved, too many ppl would cause more harm then good if everyone was installing them.
If they are to be anchored directly behinde the seat, they have to be at mid sho8ulder level IIRC. If you could anchor them a couple feet back, they cvan go to the floor without hurting you. An NHRA track tech inspector could tell you exactly how to do it, and I assume the NHRA rule book would have it too. Or maybe Simpson's web site. |

It's hard to see in the pic, but the belts need to be fastened behind you level with the top of your shoulders, or if fastened to the floor wrap around the back cross bar that is level with the top of your shoulders. As stated before, if the belts are just fastened to the floor, they will pull down on your shoulders compressing your spine and crushing it. I know that you are using factory seats, but still applies if you don't install them right you'll do yourself more harm then good. So that said, if they are attached behind you to the cross bar, that will hold them up for you, then just bring them around the sides of the seat.

Re: race harness with factory buckets
just make a plate and weld it to the ledge of the cab just under the window and make sure the belts are at or above your shoulder height and the lap blets you can also make a couple plates off the floor to bolt them to
71Dragtruck - very nice set-up
