'93 K2500 350TBI and tank swap underway
Disassembly is done now to hang this 40ga tank in between the frame rails. Looks like I'll be robbing the tank supporting cross members of the '93 donor frame and using them. I'll drop in my fresh rebuilt TH400 shortshaft this weekend, I ran my @ss all over and didn't find a tilt column so I have to make do with the $20 plain van column. I'm going to try a one piece driveline, since the '93 line is free. Next month I have the 350TBI motor and a painless harness to occupy my time..........did I mention my mother in law is staying with us for the holidays.
I'll take some pics if anyone wants to critique the progress. swdobbs |

So are you putting a '93 fuel tank and engine in a '67-'72? (And is it from a 'burb? I think the pickups have 34 gal. tanks and the 'burbs have 40?) More questions later when I figure out exactly what you're doing.

Oh, yeah: the lwb pickups (both regular and ext cabs) had 34 gal. tanks and the swb pickups had 26 gal. tanks. But who wants to drive a swb pickup? lol :p

The 88-94 trucks have a 34gallon tank? Mine goes to E on around 20 gallons. I have an ext cab short bed.

Thanks.....My mistake
Yep everything I can use is going in a '70 c10.
I'm not sure who told me it was a 40 but it sounds like I am wrong, even at 34 its huge!. I'm placing it in the factory location behind the cab between the rails, in an effort to re-use all the wiring/plumbing. I'm still a little concerned about the one-piece driveline, and modifying the carrier crossmember to a safety hoop. I think the stock fuel/oil/speed gauges will work but I've been told I'll have problems with the Battery gauge when I change to the one wire - maybe the painless kit will solve it for me. Anything else I can rob from the donor truck? swdobbs........ Last edited by swdobbs; 12-19-2002 at 06:18 PM. |

Take the little light that is under the hood. It operates by mercury i think. When you lift the hood, it comes on by gravity. Saves you a$$ when you have engine trouble at night . Also, some people like the steering wheel, which will bolt on to your collum. I would also take the seat if it is nice.
