mufflers

Do the dynomax superturbos or the magnaflow mufflers have a deeper sound? I have the 2 chamber flowmasters with delta flow right now and it is too loud for me. I drive it about everyday and want something a little quieter. Plus, I am planning on moving the shift point in my tranny up to a higher rpm. So, I want a REALLY deep rumble and something a little bit more quiet than the flowmasters. I am probably going with one of the two. So any one know which one is actually deeper? Thanks for the help.

Not sure which one is "deeper", but I'd highly recommend the Dynomax Super Turbos.

Hey slammed 67, can you compare the superturbos to the flowmasters? If not that is ok. I am just curious. I would like to hear what I am buying before I buy it, but don't have the time. I am probably going to have it doing next week some time. Soooo much stuff to do before I go back to school. Oh well. Thanks

I have dynomax superturbos and the best way I can describe them is ....well, they are quiet. Almost too quiet. A lot of the sound of the motor comes from the cam but these mufflers are really quiet especially if you compare them to flowmasters and their steel drum sound .

I would go with some hooker areo chamber or some borla if you want a bit deeper.

Or just switch to some 50 series flows.

I think the Hooker mufflers are made better than Flows too.

Thumbs up

Believe me or not but I love my current exhaust set-up. I run Dynomax ceramic headers, and then straight aluminized exhaust all the way to the gas tank then I notched the rear bumper for the import style Bomb SS mufflers. They sound awsome, and they have silencers to insert when ever you want to tone it down a bit. And its origanal, and something different, looks very nice. Just need to get a new bumper.

Depending on pipe size, & tail pipe exit the dynomax turbos can be pretty quiet. I have run tailpipes straight out the back on a 2 1/4" system, & found them to be quiet. I run Hooker headers 2 1/2" pipe, w/ H pipe & 3" tailpipes (side exit ahead of the rear wheels). The Dynomax Superturbos have a nice deep sound setup this way......in fact , loud enough on the hyway with 4.10 gears that I may cut the tail pipe size to 2 1/2." The system really sounds off when the throttle is opened up.......yet running around town, the city cops havent hassled me about the exhaust. The magnaflows are a very nice muffler, & have a deeper sound than the Superturbos, but are a little pricey.

I had Super Turbos with tailpipes, and they were VERY quiet. They had a nice rumble around town, but you couldn't hear them on the highway. The deltaflow 40 seires Flowmasters i have now are about 3-4x as loud. Maybe try some 70 seires Flows, but they are quite expensive.

I can PERSANOLLY make this comparison. I bought flowmasters at the advise from others. They cackle at higher rpm's, sound tinny at idle, and TONS of cab noise. THEY SUCK!! Sorry to all you flowmaster guys. JMO
Well I scrapped those in a month and bought the MAGNAFLOWS.
VERY NICE!! Nice low rumble, when you stand on the gas you can hear it ROAR to life, and LESS cab noise.
I am very pleased with the sound and performance of the Magnaflows.

At low RPMs and at idle, the Super Turbos have a nice deep rumble. At higher rpms, while cruising, they are quiet. However, when you "push the pedal the metal", you can really here the engine wind up. Flowmasters are just too "tingy" for my taste..... don't wanna sound like a 5.0 Mustang or IROC! I've got a 350 with 2.5" pipe, dumped in front of the axle. Full tailpipes would quiet it down even more.

I had Flowmasters on my '57 for a while and they got very annoying. Too much interior noise. If you've never had "loud" mufflers before, you might not like the Flowmasters. Just my opinion.

"Lost Wages" and "1971 Stepside" heard my truck run not too long ago. You might ask them what they thought about them.

"Justin" also has the Super Turbos and I think he really likes them too.

My flows aren't tinny at all. Not at idle, not when i romp on it, or cruising down the highway. The sound i a loud, deep roar, even on my 8.5:1 compression motor. I don't run tailpipes or turndowns, the mufflers just end. They are very loud though. At 30 MPH, the sound reverberates throughout the cab. Kinda like bass from a subwoofer . Most of the "tinny" flows i have heard are on late model cars with a catalytic converter.

wouldnt it be sweet to have a sound board set up like the radio shops do - just push a button to select your engine and another to choose your muffler..........(million dollar idea, ya'll don't seal it!)
