battery question for my '67
my battery keeps dying in my '67 after sitting for a day or two. i was waiting for my girlfriend in my truck the other day and had it turned to the ACC with the radio on and it drained the whole battery down in only 15 minutes well our local cruise-in is tomorrow and my '91 is waiting on me to install a new water pump so would the battery from my '91 be ok to run in my '67?? dunno if it matters but the dodge is a 318 and my '67 has a 454

Re: battery question for my '67
does your horn work?
my horn didn't work, but the relay was stuck on and was killing the battery. maybe something to check.

Re: battery question for my '67
it may be too big for the tray... that'd be the only problem.

Re: battery question for my '67
Longhorn Man, said it right. I just got my '67 and it is a pretty small spot for a battery to sit. The small battery was dead in it and we stuck a normal truck(90's) in it temporary and it is laying kind of sideways since it will not fit down into the battery tray. Measure before you spend time taking it out and find out it will not fit. You may not even have to measure, just a quick look maybe able to tell you.

Re: battery question for my '67
step one: have your battery tested even a new battery can be bad.
step two: have your alternator tested it might not put out enough juice for air, radio, cell phone charger, amp etc... step three: check your ground cable, loose or dirty connections rob juice. Auto parts store will check most charging problems for free.

Re: battery question for my '67
One more thing to check. Have you wired up a new alternator lately? Check to make sure you have it wired correct. I had this problem for awhile with my 71 and come to find out it was the two small wires on the alternator were backwards. Check this thread out for the info I'm posting about.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. Last edited by Andy4639; 08-09-2007 at 09:02 PM. |

Re: battery question for my '67
I installed a "new" Kragen starter and it would drain my battery after two days of sitting. Frustrated, I went to a mom and pop auto parts store and bought a starter, installed it in the truck and the problem went away. You might want to check that too.
