Question New Ride Should I

Found this today they want 800 for it I'm thinking 600 cab is shot most of the panels are as well the pics look better than they are just really want for powertrain and a/c and orig radio.

Is there a thread for idiots to change over a I6 4 speed to a 350/400? I know it cant be as simple as pull motor out of truck A and B move over trans and engine mounts and crossmembers and hook up drive shaft. Also to make sure what should I make sure to check on the motor to see how much life is left?

Re: New Ride Should I

Keep in mind, if it's what you want, it's a good deal, and if it's not, then it's too much money. My .02.

Lots of good parts! Is that cruise control I see hooked to the throttle linkage?

Re: New Ride Should I

If that was a cruise control wouldn't it be listed on the glove box option list?

I say if you like it and you have the intestinal fortitude to wrench on it for what seems an eternity until it becomes what you want- then go for it. But I agree that in it's current state, 6 Benjamins seems about right.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but for the uber-knowledgeable folks on this board- What exactly is option code 4K31AA "Manual Throttle"?

Re: New Ride Should I

Re: New Ride Should I

The transmission note is weird. Shows an M38 in the left column. Then the description shows an M49. First time I've ever seen that.

Re: New Ride Should I

It Means Exactly What It Says --the Truck Is Equipped With A Manual Throttle Control. Not Sure Why They Put It On A 2wd With An Auto Trans But Handy With A Manual Trans And Pto.

Re: New Ride Should I

Use the motor mount pedastools from the donor truck and move or replace your crossmember for the tranny lengthen or shorten the drive shaft and whalaa, Id swap the radiator two which means youll have to move the lower radiator mounts if you have the I-6 radiator, all acessory's, Id freshen the motor up, if you tear it down and no machine work is needed rebuild kits are dirt cheap for 350's, then youll know its good and wont have any leaks.

Re: New Ride Should I

Thanks for the help looks like the holes are already dripped for the other trans cross member is this true that i can just pull the one out of the donor truck and use?

She has a big a$$ radiator in her now and they look to be close in size should I still switch?
