Here's my favorite shade of dark blue. Code 29 GM Midnight blue. It's really a nice color, especially when it's fresh. ...Joe

Re: any one have an idea for a blue paint?
I can get you a paint code for the indigo blue metallic if your interested. One thing I remeber is that the mix has a lot of pearl in it, so it was kinda pricy. One gallon was over $300 if I remember correctly for base coat. Of course that was about 5 years ago now.

Re: any one have an idea for a blue paint?
The code 29 is a non metallic color. Sorry that I forgot to mention that. It was used from 1981-2002, so the DuPont book says. The first time that I saw this shade of blue I absolutely fell in love with it. This was back in 1981 or 82. I always wanted a truck this color and I finally bought this one in 2004.
A lot of people mistake this color for black, especially when it's fresh. Being a non metallic color makes it last a lot longer than a metallic color because all of those metallic flakes in the paint act as little mirrors and they make a metallic color fade a whole lot faster than an opaque color such as this one. Also makes for easier repair work as far as matching the color later on if you ever need to. The picture of the paint on my truck is showing about 10-12 years of wear and tear from the doors back according to the previous owner. He said he had it repainted back in 1996 or 1997 with DuPont Centari basecoat clearcoat paint. Some of the clear is coming off, especially on the top of the roof. I replaced and painted the front fenders, rockers, cab corners, and hood back in September of 2005 with just a DuPont single stage Centari paint just to keep it from rusting until the day that I get to do a frame off. As you can tell from the picture the new paint isn't that far off in color from the old paint, and might have actually matched up perfectly if I had used the base/clear system. I just didn't see the need to spend the money though since I will eventually rip this truck down to the framerails. I intend to go back with the same color on mine because I like it so well. ...Joe

Re: any one have an idea for a blue paint?
The Navy Blue Metallic used on 98-02 f-body cars is my favorite (I have one, of course I'm biased). Depending on how the light hits it, it turns purple & black. These pics are in the shade, it really pops in the sun.
Edit: Here's one with the sun hitting it...

Re: any one have an idea for a blue paint?
I work in a plastic fascia factory where we manufacture plastic bumpers and paint them. When i painted my truck in 2002 (approx.) Dodge WB7 Blue was the darkest blue we painted at the time.We are doing the 2008 Ford Taurus fascias now and we paint a colour it is called Dark Blue Ink.I owned a bodyshop for years before working in this factory and this is one of the darkest blue metallics i have ever seen.I have attached a photo of one that colour but just slip down to your nearest ford dealer and check it out

Re: any one have an idea for a blue paint?
I used to own a '65 Riviera Gran Sport. An older guy that used to run around locally also had one that he had painted Lemans Blue. Beautiful color. It might have been '67 Lemans Blue or maybe that was just he car he saw it on?
