205 Shifter Upgrade?

Has anyone found a good upgrade for the 205 shifter? I saw one on eBay that had a bearing in it and a greasable bolt. eBay I'd really like to find another one like this. There seems to be plenty of twin stick units now but I really have no need for one and they just use up more space.

Thanks,
Whit

I dont know much about after market shifters, but my 79 3/4 ton has a greasable linkage as factory for the 205.

Re: 205 Shifter Upgrade?

Does it have a bearing or bushing where the bolt goes through it? More importantly, does it rattle? Thanks.

Re: 205 Shifter Upgrade?

I was toying with the idea of finding an electric shift mechanism from a new vehicle and adapting it. But all that seems like a lot of work if all I'm looking for is a quiet shifter. My Atlas II shifter doesn't make any noise.

scroll to the bottom , then back up till you see anti rattle clips.

You can drill your existing bolt for a grease fitting, or buy one.
I also made mine a plastic washer using a yogurt lid.

Re: 205 Shifter Upgrade?

Mine is a bushing, not a bearing. No it does not rattle. Hard to wear out linkage that moves inches with a zert.[if you grease]. My 71' has no zert, and does'nt rattle either.

The washer is one of many good upgrades ( I like the ingenious use of the yogurt lid!) I have shimmed the side play out of a few in Jeeps and made up a grease bolt with a zerk like above. All work good. It is all about getting the play out.
