what a joke

this sucks. right now im switching a power steering unit from a truck to one that had manual steering. i can't belive how much stuff i need to switch, crap like the bumper bracket. i will never in my life do this again to be a nice guy. just venting before i blow the trucks up.

I had to install part of the frame from another truck.

i put the power steering on an 80 year old mans truck. he could drive the truck and it is a 70 chevy c10. i couldn't let him not be able to drive his baby around town. i will be posting pics of his truck.

manual steering = not bad.
PS box without a pump = hard.
PS box no pump and 36" tires = Popeye!

I did the swap on my 67. It required the frame to be relieved (fancy for dented in) to clear the gearbox, I did this by marking it and then heating the spot up and loving on it with a really big hammer. Also needed to notch the core support frame mount to clear the end of the gearbox. As for the bumper I havnt gotten there yet so we will see when I finally get to that point. Hope this helps.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't remember having to reshape or cut or relieve any parts on my trucks???

I didn't have too much trouble converting both my 68 GMC and 69 Chevy to p.s. 15 years ago. The only thing I had to do on the 68 was shim the p.s. box with some washers.

Could be that back then there were more parts to select from for these older trucks.

when i did mine years ago i just took the braket off and put the bolt back in the bumper, its still that way now with no problems, but when i start on the body work getting ready for paint im going to have to fix it.
