best way to run battery wires?

yesterday, going down my street, all the sudden everything shut off, and my truck stopped... i start to see smoke.. then i notice the battery wire is welded to the header.. and they got so hot...the arced in a few more places...

so im headed to kragans to get some new battery wires...was wondering if anybody had some ideas or pictures of the best way to run the pos/neg, wires... more importantly, how to run the positive wire to the starter without letting the header burn the insulation off the wire and arc it....

Re: best way to run battery wires?

The factory uses clamps to attach the positive cable to the oil pan attaching bolts. It's a pain to replace the cable, but it stays out of harms way.

Re: best way to run battery wires?

I ran my battery cables off of the battery down to the frame and had a rubber clamp placed there. That was followed up by the ground cable going to a bolt on the front of th ebolck (by the fuel pump boss). The positive cable was routed along the pan to the starter and I use the metal clip that came with the original pan bolts to hold it away from the headers. This has been a successful thing for many years and three trucks.
