LED lights for dash ?
I've got a 65' chevy.Has anyone used LED lights in there dash cluster on these? Seems it would brighten it up a bit, but im not sure if original harness would power them correctly? Also how do you reset the odometer on these back to 0. Any ideas for something diffrent in the dummy gauge housings? Thanks.

Re: LED lights for dash ?
I think LEDs will emit to much light inside the cab and make it difficult to see out the windshield. Might be a good experiment.
To reset the odometer, pull the dash cluster out of the dash, pull the dash bezel off of it and remove the three 1/4" hex screws to release the odometer from the dash cluster housing. Once removed, you can manually manipulate the number disks on the odometer and reset to zero. It is a little tricky, but I have reset several with not much problem. |

Re: LED lights for dash ?
Depends on what you use for the LED's. If you use modern high brightness ones that are made to replace bulbs then it should be bright!. However if you only want led idiot lights which dont burn out like a bulb will, then use the regular old leds from radio shack or any supplier of electronic parts. You will need to add a voltage dropping resistor to each led though. Also DO NOT replace the generator warning light with either type led. Your alternator needs that bulb to limit it's field current (unless your are switching to a one wire alternator)!

I just ordered a few of these. I want to see how they work and look in one of my '64-'66 Chevy trucks. Thanks for the link. Tony |

Re: LED lights for dash ?
Let me know how they turn out. I'm going to try the white guage kit too. The guages for the 4-5-6 are still cheap enough that I cam afford to screw one up. And if it wasn't hard enough to choose a color to paint the truck, now I have to decide what color of guages.

Re: LED lights for dash ?
I just reconditioned my instrument cluster. I used whitegauges.com purchased the new background kit ,I also purchased LED lights for the cluster. They come in various colors. It looks alot better, like new. The lights are not as bright as I thought though. I will try to post a picture if I can .This is a good and cheaper way to clean up your cluster without having to change over to new gauges.

Re: LED lights for dash ?
I have all led lights, and they do not put out that much light. I used the white face kit with green led's. I also replaced all the blinker indicator, bright light indicator heat/cold and volt lights with the appropriate color led's and replaced the old color covers with milk jug plastic.
