What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

What do you think? The PO of my truck was converting it to a 3/4 ton and I want to go back to 6 lug.

44? 60?
posi?
just the gears?
front ?
Back ?

Any which way, around here they usually sell in under a week for $100.
A front with flat top knuckles is worth more.

If you were around here, I'd be happy to swap my Blazer 12 bolt with 4.10's!

I would love to swap if you were closer. I'm not sure which rear end I have. I'll post a pic tomorrow and maybe someone could tell me. It's the entire rearend that's in good condition under my truck.

Is it a D60 from the front? Not sure but you should get 250 for it pretty easy.

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

How can I identify which one it is? I would take a pic but my wife has the camera for the day. It is full floating(I can pull the axle out without removing the wheel) and I know what a 14 bolt looks like. The PO said it's a dana.
Thanks for all of the replies.

Post a pic Then I can tell you the 60 is a lot bigger than the 44, since it has full floaters I want to say its a 60 not a lot of 44's came with full floaters.

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

Who said front,4wd,or anything else that would make it unclear what The Goat is asking?Stop confusing the poor guy.He has a Dana60 rear from a leaf sprung GMC,which is the common setup for a 3/4t.The Dana60 I sold was the same thing, but out of a`71 Chevrolet CustomCamper/30.There weren`t any Dana60 front axles used on GM 4wds back in 67-72.If a 67-72 has one it`s because it was swapped-in.If it was swapped-in,I doubt someone wouldn`t know what it was or the value and I really doubt anyone would want to go through the trouble to pull it out to change to 1/2t.Not exactly the trend these days. This, also, leads me to believe we`re talking 2wd since swapping-in 1/2t suspension on a 3/4t is a common trend these days.

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

I'm not trying to be rude or anything but unless we knew the guy personally how would we know what he is asking about. He asked a question and we tried helping him. All it says is 8 lug dana. Would that automatically mean it's a rear and not a front. No. When he said it was full floater yeah you could then say hey its a rear. Not trying to confuse, Just trying to clarify.

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

I Appreciate all of the help and if anyone was being rude it was myself for not giving all of the info. I was talking about the rear axle on a 2wd GMC longbed that originally was a 1/2 ton but he PO was trying to make into a camper special. He put a 3/4 ton rear end into it that I know know(thanks to the link and the other replies) to be a Dana 60. I will not be hauling anything or towing with this truck and was going to swap back to 1/2 ton since front is still 6 lug and I don't want to carry 2 spares.

This now opens another question, if my goal is to have all four corners match, would it be cheaper to convert the front to 8 lug and leave the rear alone?
Next time I will think through the entire question before I post.
Thanks guys

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

You should be able to pick up a GM 12bolt pretty cheap. I think that would be easier if it is still in good working order.

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

Run the 60 and get 6 lug shafts instead of getting a 12 bolt, it is stonger than the 12 bolt and parts are more plentiful for the 60 and often times cheaper, what you might spend on a 12 bolt with a posi or however your setting it up you might spend less with the 60 and just buying 6 lug shafts.
If you were close and didn't want it id give up my 6 lug 12 bolt for your 60 anyday, if you do get rid of it sell it to someone building a rock crawler its more worth it to them than a lot of guys building 67-72's

Re: What's this worth 8 Lug Dana 4.10's

you can go to any junk yard and find a 6 lug rear axle, just be sure to measure the spring width first. The big question is gears. If you are not planning on hauling, pulling or drag racing then your 4.10's will suck on the highway. 3.73's are a popular all around gearing, I just sold a 12 bolt with open rear for $50 just so I didn't have to haul it around anymore. Then you have to plan on mew brakes, shocks (maybe), E-brake cables (maybe), U-bolts and spring plates. It starts to add up fast either way you go.

Yours is worth about $100-$150 I would say.

If it would have been a 4wheel drive thread I am positive it would have been over in that forum. I remember a few years ago here we had a lot of threads that went like this one. A dana 60 for the front for 250. I would buy them all day for that.
