I have a 1966 Chevy Short bed. My passenger door is closed, with it being locked. It doesn't have the key entry. I took the interior panel off, I can see the mechanism, just don't know what needs to be done to unlock it. I would be open to any ideas. Please

you shold be able to just pull up on the interior door handle. When you close the door pushing the door handle all the way down will lock it, by just closing the door you should be able to open and close it from the out side.

I guess, I need to say also that when I do pull up on the handle nothing happens. I'm thinking the cog is stuck between two of them.

ok how is your handle its self? Is it striped, or are the "teeth" striped on the shaft that it attaches too?

I bought a parts truck and this is exactly how this truck was. The teeth were pretty much rusted, so I soaked it with wd40 then used a hammed and a screw driver to open it. haha

how is your weather stripping? on my truck i have really bad weather stripping and if I close my door to hard to goes to far in and gets stuck shut. Something with the latch. the only way i can get it open when I do that is by pulling the handle and hitting the door open really hard with my foot. Looks kind of stupid when Im doing it but it works.

Not sure I'm following this thread. If you are inside the cab, you should be able to just move the handle and un-lock the door. On these trucks, if you put the inside handle in the lock position while the door is open, the door will not close. However, if someone did so with enough force, the door is difficult to get open, not because the door is locked, but because the latch is hung up.
