Newbie Here

Hey guys, im new to this forum I got a 1970 shortbed awhile back but never got around to fixing it but I hope to change that soon. This truck is all mixed up lol for starters the top of the cab was cut off and replaced from the middle of the A pillar all the way down to about the gas cap and the filler they used to smooth the welds is all cracked also the floors are rusted out but I know a guy who has about 3 spare cabs that might sell me one. The VIN says that its a 70 step side with a 6 banger but it has a regular short bed and a V8. I have no idea of the condition of the engine but it looks pretty rough and isnt even completely mounted in there, the tranny is a 3-speed on the column and im not sure what rear it has. Its pretty much just a stripped down beater right now but im goin to start working on it. I will get some pictures up here as soon as I can but im warning you its nothing pretty lol Basically every body part needs replaced cause of large body damage.

Oh ya I forgot I wanted to ask you guys, do you have any picture of any aftermarket hoods mounted on these trucks? Ive seen some small cowl hoods but thats about it. I went to carhoods.com and they have a trans-am style hood but im not sure how that would look anybody got a picture of one mounted?

Re: Newbie Here

welcome to the board.
The VIN decoders you've looked at are wrong. You can't tell a chevy's bed style from the VIN. However, if you have the SPID in the glove box still, you CAN tell what bed it had by looking at the model number.
Here's the only 100% acurate VIN and model decoder (for chevy) that I have found on the web. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html
