WTB - Passenger exterior door handle REINFORCING PLATE

I need the reinforcing plate that is on the back side of the passenger door skin. This is the piece that the exterior door handle bolts to.

Have a trashed door you have been thinking of scrapping? All I need is that section cut out.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I haven't seen a plate behind any of my door handles...just 2 bolts with washers. Maybe I'm dropping that plate every time I remove a handle

Whoops, I think I understand what you want after rereading your post. You want a section of the door sheet metal itself, not just what is on the back side or am I still confused.

No, I need the plate that is spot welded to the inside of the skin.

Bob,

I have one if you want to pay postage to get it to you. It's raining here right now but it's supposed to stop in a couple of hours. Let me know.

I've got this one out & ready to go. Go ahead and send me your shipping address and I'll send it to you. It's only two bucks in a padded envelope and I owe you anyway. If it wasn't for your FAQ I wouldn't be building a short bed right now....

That way Powell72 won't have to mess with his.

Re: WTB - Passenger exterior door handle REINFORCING PLATE

Is this just on the passenger side or is it just on the earlier doors? Both my 72 drivers side doors don't have this plate on the inside. I haven't checked the passenger sides. No signs of tackwelds either. Is there supposed to be one of those? The door seems pretty ridgid in the handle area even without a backing plate.

Re: WTB - Passenger exterior door handle REINFORCING PLATE

I looked at 3 of my doors - a 69(passenger) and 3 72's(2driver and 1passenger) - without finding one. Dagone it - something to search for.

How hard are they to remove - cut the surface skin or pop loose at the welds?

Bob,

I cut the door skin around this one then drilled out the spot weld on the top leg (the hole in the picture). Twisted it sideways and the other spot weld broke loose. Only two spots on that one, could vary from door to door though.
