New ORD flip rear shackles installed

I finished them this morning I put them on a 83 3/4 ton longbed 4wd after a test drive i love em. The whole truck rides smoother and i dont have all that squeakin and popping i did with rear blocks. It sits a little higher in the rear thay make a front shackle that will cure that. I fell it was money well spent and they look cool to

Re: New ORD flip rear shackles installed

Looks good, I would like to put some on my 61 4x4 but nobody makes them for 60-66 4x4's. I wonder if the 67-72's would work on my truck? Oh well, nice job!

Re: New ORD flip rear shackles installed

thanks, i found the instructins after i was done they said the shackle should be turned around, not sure why it does the same thing i called but stephen was busy hes very helpful. Wonder if you had the measurements if you could make them work on your truck? i am releived to get the blocks out,i also gained some exta wheel travel with a smoother ride.

Can you compare your rear axles front spring hanger to one from a 67-72? Worst case scenario, you might have to use 67-72 rear axle front spring hanger.

I thought about changing all the spring hangers to 73-87, but I guess the 67-72 would be the closet. The only thing is to find them, the salvage yards around here crush all the old stuff to quick!! I don't have any one around here that I know of that has a 67-72 4x4 to campare the front hangers to. I'll guess I'll have to search a little harder!! Jeremy.

How wide are the springs on a 67-72 4x4? Mine are 2 1/2 inches wide. By the way I did not mean to hi jack your thread, sorry.

Re: New ORD flip rear shackles installed

I'm not sure of the homebrew flip and this is coming from one cheap SOB. I'm sure cutting a hole out of a stock hangar takes good amount of strength out of it. The added gussets help but it sure looks iffy.

You want a cheap way to do a flip go find a 2wd truck and swipe the rear spring front hangars from a junker. Put them in the rear. It just requires a lot of rivet cutting..

Look good. Had a chance to try them out yet?

Just thought I'd link this again, to show another option. Some other links in that thread too.

Shackle flip was the best upgrade I've made, really helped the flex.

Re: New ORD flip rear shackles installed

As long as it is the same width I don't think i matters were it is from. also check the diameter of the bolts and bolt holes
