I say take it to the pros... no hammers, no beating up sockets, they'll spin it for you and make sure it's ballanced and inspect every piece on there.
I'm the cheapest SOB on here, and I took mine in.

Use your vise. Take socket bigger then the cup and put on one side. Take a nut smaller then cup on put on other end. Tighten vise and hit vise jaws with hammer. Tighten more . Repeat with thicker nut until cup is pushed out the other side. Reverse sides with big socket. Take a long socket and put in cup hole over joint shaft. Push out by tighting vise. (No warrenty with above advise)

Re: ujoints won't come off....help

Are you removing the driveline u-joints from there yokes?? Or are you haveing a prob. with the slip joint.???

I had a 66 3/4 ton that was so stiffly sprung I think the suspension never flexed enough to allow the slip joint to move! When time came to replace U-joints, the splines on the slip were stuck but good!! I had to mtake it out carrier bearing, front shaft and all.
I used a load of penetrating oil and warmed the joint up with a propane torch just until the grease started to ooze out. It finaly gave way and I cleaned it all up n assembled with never sieze.

And for sure, if you don't have the right tools.

Reminds me of a friend of mine and his brother who bought ujoints, a repair manual and went to work to replace their first ujoints. They did it in the driveway in the hot Texas summer.

He told me they beat and hammered for 2 hours and finally gave up and took it to the local shop. Guy charged him $20.00 for both joints. Almost as much as the book!!!
