lowering question
so, i've heard alot of ppl talkin about just takin a torch to their springs while on the car so the weight of the car compresses it, is this just a horrible idea? i'm to cheap to lower it, but hey, if i can do it for free... so, if anyone has done this, wat's the effect on handling, ride quality, stuff like that, and how far can you lower it this way without riskin a spring breakin when ya go over a speed bump? : )

I've never actually done this, but I've heard negative things from people who have. Aside from the safety issues, it will ride like crap. I think you'd be better off cutting a coil off the fronts and coughing up a c-note for the rear lowering coils. Just my .02

done it many many MANY times, never had a spring break.
The ride wasn't much worse than the ones lowered with springs or flip kits. |

Heat the backs cut the fronts its not a good idea but it works stay toward the top of the spring it will help you retain some good ride cause the bottom to the middle wont change spring rate, it will be stiffer were you heat it, it will essentially make a home made proggressive spring on the front half coil per inch drop and 10% spring rate increase per inch, do it if you dont like the ride coils are cheap PST sells them for like 90 bucks a set
