Header Installation Problems

Another typical truck day, I spent 6 hours doing a 2 hour job. Last Sat. I put some Flowtech headers on my 350. Passenger side went on great, except I broke the plastic cover on my cylinoid (I thought I could get away with not taking off the starter). Worst part is I didn't break it with the header!

When I put on the driver's side I had all kinds of problems. My temp sensor was in the way so I had to back it out a little, getting coolant everywhere. Then the header got wedged somehow and I spent freakin forever trying to get it unstuck.

In addition to all of this my truck is not in a garage and it is like 30 degrees outside with additional breeze.

The finale was when I put on my plug wires and the boots sat right up against the pipes! I was so pissed I broke off one of the plugs. So, I shifted my attention to the starter. I glued the broken piece back on and it still worked, but sounded bad. So, I took it back to the parts store and got a replacement under warrenty. And since parts people can't be reasonably intellegent for more than a brief moment I had to go to another parts store for shorter plugs. Finally done, runs good, need to get a timing light!

Q: Will the short plugs mess anything up? The threads are the same length, just the ceramic is shorter.

Nope the shorter plugs will work ACCEL makes really short plugs for headders...Also my blazer has 2 different headders on it and i had to make sleeves with thermo tech wrap just so my wires would not burn up cause they were lyin on the headder tubes .......

The Accells are very short, but they cost quite a bit, I have found that BOSH supers are both pretty short, and cheap at 99 cents.
Plus I've always liked there plugs anyways.

lol, they aren't real short, ust the shorter of the 'normal' plugs. The computer they get all there info from doesn't say anythign about them being any shorter or not.
