Re: my 64 gmc build, lots of q's??and pics
the pic where the alternator is, the flat black connector with 4 wires in it goes to the regulator, which should be on the drivers side on the radiator support. that single wire i think should go to the horn, which should also be located by the regulator. my truck has the painless wiring harness with a few custom touches to the wiring but heres a few old pics of mine with the stock wiring. good luck.

theres no way that flat plug could reach to the drivers side.if the alternator is internally regulated could this be why its not plugged in?if so how do you tell if the alternator is internally regulated or not?

usually the 2 connections on the side of the alt go like this( | | ) on externally regulated alts, and like this ( __ __ ) on internally regulated ones.

That is an internal regulator alternator and that is why you have all of the extra wires. If it is charging don't attach any more wires to it. The 3 holes next to the master cylnder are not needed. The last picture looks like the horn wires. Do you have a horn in the truck?

The peaks come around the front, and the turn signal lamps are shaped differently. Maybe someone can post a pic. One will bolt in place of the other.
