Column mounted shift indicator WAY MODIFIED

problem: My light for the column gear indicator has been out since I've owned this truck. Today I went to find out why?

One PO, somehow broke the pointer housing off at the single screw, Then tried to glue the darn thing back on. Off comes the screw, & housing in glue two incrusted pieces... Dilemma: Big small hole- not worth dropping 20+$$ on for a new pointer & fiberoptic cable .

Solution: make my own ,.. but what design..
after an hour going thru small boxes of all kinds of cool stuff WE all save for no reason, I came across a this Hot wheels truck..
'Holy Batman ' - this is it !..
*sand tires flat, drill hole, test fit, add rear spacer so when attached w/single screw - truck is not doing a wheelie, remove, and w/3/8 bit drill hole in cab for LIGHT...
Here's the finished gear indicator , awaiting a small micro bulb...
LOL , really amusing to drive it now !

very unique. You could easily fit a LED in the cab. Does the center-line of the hood point to the gear?

" what are my plans for the red truck..."?

well, good question,,.
Light it up of course & I may paint it the same color as the interior,
but with a white or red center strip !...

Re: Column mounted shift indicator WAY MODIFIED

thats freakin awesome man, i LOVE it, you should leave it red and put a blue led in the cab or paint it white like the truck, providing its the one in your avater, but then if you do paint it interior color itll blend in and really be a suprize then

I thought it'd be cool to have match your REAL truck. Deja vu sorta trip, ya dig?

And thanks for the horn cap pics, that thing is B-E-A-UTIFUL! It's like mine, but my center is brushed aluminum or something.

Re: Column mounted shift indicator WAY MODIFIED

This is old, but I just saw your mind at work with the "lil' red truck".
GREAT idea- just stay away from my dash, OK?
Probably one -of-a-kind, for sure
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Column mounted shift indicator WAY MODIFIED

the question was never answered on the horn button, that is a 67 only CST horn button. Rare piece indeed, and in the photo, looks VERY nice.
*worth a few bucks*
