It could be street driven reistered historic or,like in Maryland,as a street rod.But...I think you still may draw alot of attention from Johnny Law.It`s cool to look at and fun to drive,I`m sure

Actually, 2.5 tons would work. It would still be stupid tall with no suspension flex, horrible driveshaft angles, not to mention it's probably open diff front and rear. Check out http://www.ouversonengineering.com/

They make 2" diameter 47 spline axleshafts for the 2.5 ton Rock. Pure beef right there....plus a lot of other cool stuff for Rocks...8x6.5 conversion hubs, wheel brakes, pinion brakes, etc.

Thankss for your opinion.I didn`t know about upgrades and was refering to standard axles that won`t hold up to 48" Terra tires.I just think 53s on trucks is silly and pointless. Not my style, not my truck, just my take. The whole point of 4wd is function.Where is it on this truck?

Yeah, glad someone built it so now 'we know' how a beauty of an old chevy looks on 53's.

Re: HOLY CRAP - Ebay 68 K-20 w/53" tires...

everyone does have valid points here.
those dana 60's could not be hammered on or off road with 53's.
even the 49's are hard on alloy dana 60 shafts.
the 2.5 tons would be the choice here, they will hold more than a 48"terra though, unless your talkin about 600hp or 72" tractor tires.
as for useful or uselessness?
stay tuned and be patient......my k5 with rockwells and 50" tractor tires will NOT be a show truck..ill show you rockwell axles and 50" tires being USED!!

The line has been drawn.

Would rather see your K5 roostin' mud than seeing this drive down the road any day.
