Flowtech Header ?
May have been asked before, but how good do the Flowtech headers for sbc fit on our trucks. Also, anyone used their ceramic coated ones? I found what looks like a good price for them and I have a $40.00 promotion code.

Re: Flowtech Header ?
I'm running a set of these. I put them in in February '06 and they have held up ok although my truck's not a daily driver. They've lost that nice shine they had but no rust as of yet (ceramic coated).
I remember one side needed some "modification" to fit; may have been the driver's side but nothing a couple of hammer wacks couldn't fix. Also, if you have A/C there is mounting kit sold separately that you will need to mount A/C bracket and header. |

Re: Flowtech Header ?
Do they clear all the spark plugs and wires? Are the plugs fairly easy to get to?

Re: Flowtech Header ?
Yes, but are they the ceramic ones. I have a set of Hedmans that fit like crap and have a hard time getting to the #5 and #6 spark plug. Had to dent them up to fit. Ask 70c10 about them....

Re: Flowtech Header ?
Steve, I have a set of the regular (painted) Flowtech headers on mine. I have not tried to pull a plug or anything yet, so I cant help you there. Call me and come by and check them out if you want to.

Re: Flowtech Header ?
I had some regular painted Flowtechs, they fit well on my '72. No problems changing sparkplugs or anything. The only thing with them was that I had to use smaller headed header bolts to clear the tubes, I actually ended up using studs. I'd buy them again..

Re: Flowtech Header ?
I have had a set on my 67 for about 6 years. They seem to fit pretty good. Plug #6 is blocked to the point that I have to use a wrench to get it out. The #5 tube bumps against the frame from time-to-time, but nothing that bad (probably specific to my install).
Overall, I think they're a decent value, but will go with Hedman Elite next time around. HomerJ

Re: Flowtech Header ?
Still wondering about the ceramic ones. Anyone know if they are coated on the inside?

Re: Flowtech Header ?
I bought some Dynomax headers, and after digging around the box I found a Flowtech exhaust sticker, so I assume they are reboxed Flowtechs, but anyway. I have no problems with them on my 68 4x4. The passenger side collector flange scrubs the driveshaft, but a little grinding will easily fix that. The plugs are pretty good to put in and take out, could be better but could be a lot worse too. But other than that I am very happy with them, both with the fitment and the quality. My friend bought some Hedmans for his Dodge 4x4, he hasn't put them on yet, but I wasn't impressed with the quality. I thought my Dynomax/Flowtechs were way ahead of them.
But thats just my 2 cents worth and my little experience with headers. |

Re: Flowtech Header ?
I contacted flowtech 2 years ago and was told the inside is NOT coated to try to keep the cost down to the consumer. The headers are only 1.5" diameter as opposed to 1 5/8", so for performance I would go with something else.
