http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html
K 4X4
E v8
1 1/2 ton
4 cab with (unspecified) bed
1 71
Z Fremont (cali, not ohio)
638758 the _38758th built on that line at that plant.
I've seen documentation that said if there were 2 assembly lines, one would start at 1xxxxxx, and the second would start at 8xxxxx... then I've seen other docuimentation that said the second line would start at 5xxxxx.

Re: Can someone decode this vin for me????????

Randy,no way to tell by the VIN whether it was a short bed. However,if it had a 3/4 ton vin and they claimed it was a shortbed, you'd know they were lying. If it has the glovebox you should be able to tell by looking at the wheel base listed in there.
