Cool. Just another one of those things that you don't realize how many variations GM made on the "73-87 trucks that are all the same"!!!

THanks.

I think my next step is to take a trip out to the wrecking yards and do some measuring on an IFS chassis. What do you think the chances are that any of the 4WD IFS parts will bolt on in place of my 2WD IFS? Zilch, I would imagine!!

The snow falling down makes me wish I had my 4x4 back!

Does anybody have any links to this sort of conversion? Even straight axle conversions would be helpful!

Thanks a lot!

No, haven't had a chance to yet. I'm getting married in May, so I've been working and remodeling a house in my "spare" time. I probably won't get to work on this project until next summer at the earliest. I just like to do as much background research as I can before I start a project.

The next project on my list is installing a turbocharger, which I have sitting in my shop ready to bolt on. Just waiting for some time.

as soon as all of this snow that we are getting is gone.. well most of it anyways, i can atleast get some frame measurements for you etc.. this late at night i cant remember what they are.. I got a well for the most part a shell of a 90 model pickup from shell knob, mo earlier this year.. i think it might even have a 4.10 front end.. but at any rate ill atleast get you some dimensions.

That'd be great!

Looks like this snow is going to postpone our Christmas. My brother can't get home, and I can't even hardly get out of my driveway, and forget about getting to my Grandma's house! Oh well. Merry Christmas ya'll!

Yeah, I found out about all of this 2 wheel versus 4 wheel cab nonsense first hand!

My son wrecked his 2 wheel drive 86 chevy pickup. I had a 81 4 wheel drive with a shelled cab. So I switched them. The hump was definately taller in the 4x cab. I ended up cutting the whole center sections out of both cabs and welding the taller hump in the 2x cab. It was ALOT of work. I'm not sure I would do something like that again. Getting the cab switched was a process too. I did not have any sort of lift and there were only two of us to do the switch. Not alot of fun.
