upper ball joint

hey guys i ordered a front end rebuild kit from classic performance. i put the upper ball joints in today but i dont really like the way its sitting in the arm. when you put that rubber boot through that retainer piece then put it and the ball joint through the hole its a really tight fit. when i tightened it down theres a little gap in the front. the sides and rear seem to be ok.i know this is kinda vague but i dont know how to really descibe it. any help would be appreciated. if this is ok then thats fine i just dont want to get it on there and something break. thanks alot.

Re: upper ball joint

Are you putting the dust boot on before you install the ball joint? The dust boot goes on after the ball joint is installed. Nevermind this if I misunderstood you. Can you take any pics of the arm with it installed?

Re: upper ball joint

Boot goes on underneath the arm...not through the hole.

Re: upper ball joint

Rubber boot goes through the thin piece of metal. With MOOG the boot and metal are togther as one. The thin metal piece and the rubber boot go under the contol arm. So the metal piece is to hold the boot.

Re: upper ball joint

Chevy dude you are one smart man. I didnt even think about putting the piece of metal under the arm. i knew it was there to hold the boot but just didnt know how it was supposed to go on there. 49m the kit cost 269.00 from classic performance. it comes with upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends and idler arm. Its supposed to come with sway bar bushings as stated in product description but i didnt get any. ive got to give them a call tomorow. thanks guys for all yalls help.
