go with the 285 or 265 tires?

i am getting tires for my completely stock 71 3/4 ton chevy fleetside
and am not sure what tire to put on it right now there are 235/85/16
i have looked at 265/85/16 and a 285/75/16 or 265/75/16
any sugestions?

I just got these Sat. The rims are 16x8, with 4.25" backspacing. Tires are 265/70/R16...

285/75's are almost 33" tall... make sure they'll fit.

ive put them on several newer 2500HD trucks at work, and even on the 4x4's they need the torsion bars cranked and an alignment done...

265/75s are too squatty.I`d go with the 285/75s or 255/85s.The 235/85s are closest to stock.If you want to go up a notch,the two I mentioned will do it.The 285s are about 32" tall and the 255s are about 33" tall.The 285s are about and inch wider than the 255s which are about 1" wider than 235s.Here are 255/85s on my`92.These would be better on stock rims:

Those 255's look good Tim, they look beefier than 285's I've seen. Maybe I should get a set for my truck when the time comes.
