Question for BBC 2wd Owners

Getting my exhaust done in a week on the blazer, and was contemplating a set of headers instead of my manifolds. The set of Hookers I had on the small block would not allow exhuast to be installed due to the small clearance between the collector and tranny x-member(doesn't have cutouts for the exhaust). I was wondering if there would be any clearance problems like that on my BBC with long tube hooker or hedman headers? Anyone running these headers for a BBC in a 2wd trucks or especially those who have 2wd blazers, have any input....would like help as soon as possible so I could order if possible.

Re: Question for BBC 2wd Owners

I was going to run Hooker Super Comp headers on my truck (BB, SWB, 2WD), but when I went to install them they barely hit the trans cross member and would not allow me to. I don't understand why, as I had the correct headers for my app? Perhaps it was because I now have an OD trans and had to move the crossmember? Anyhow, I sold them and purchased Sanderson headers...they fit like a glove!

Sanderson Long tubes? I've only seen the block huggers for our application...

EDIT: Just looked at their website, is it the C6's you have or the BB8's (the block huggers?), any pics? Thanks

BB8's are what I have, they are a mid length shorty type header.

Here are the best pics I have...

Re: Question for BBC 2wd Owners

I have Hedman Elites. There are some pics here - My little truck story

I don't have a pic of underneath, but I think the collectors come out near the same spot as the Hookers in the pic AirMale posted.

Re: Question for BBC 2wd Owners

Greg and Airmale, what is the distance between the face of the collector and transmission crossmember on your setups?

Too late for me to measure... I've already pulled the engine, trans and crossmembers from the '77 frame to swap into the '86 I just bought. Probably be another week or two before I get them installed.

Sorry for the late response but I don't have an exact measurement but this pic should help some.

Re: Question for BBC 2wd Owners

Thanks guys, I ended up ordering Hooker #2454, didn't see a 2455 on jegs. I would of gone sanderson but If I go sanderson I'd want the coated headers and unfortunately I reaaally don't want to dish out 450+ dollars for a set right now. Good question though is with the tranny crossmember, my crossmember curves are inverse of yours airmale....did you flip yours or something. Is it just a different crossmember, because the center of my crossmember is definately the highest part of it.
