Anyone have one with an odd-ball motor?

I'm looking at the shop manual and it seems these trucks were offered with some engines I have never seen in these trucks before including...

153 4 cylinder
A V6 351 or 478 Diesel
348 and 409 Big Blocks

Has anyone seen a factory example with these motors?

Wher did you find that info Tomsriv? To my knowledge the 348 and the 409 were only optioned on cars. I would like info on these as an option for my restoration reference I keep for cutomer's vehicles. Thanks, Jerry

Here are the scans. I found out the 4 cyl was only in the step van. I have never seen one of those. I have heard of this motor being offered in Novas.

Sounds like a cool truck. I wonder what kind of mileage it will get. I have never seen an old diesel before besides those stupid mercedes diesels.

The 351 should be a Gasser.

The last jpeg shows the page that mentions the 351 and 478 Diesel motors. But your right, they made a gas version too.

It is gas powered. The kick panel tag says 190 or 195HP. (would have to look)
I have a Holley 2 barrel on it and am going to run 2 into 1 exhaust ( 3" pipe with a chambered muffler.}
