Re: Non power brake master cyl
If you have drums all the way around you can just use a manual brake master cylinder. For safety you would use a two chamber equal size master. Most manual GM masters are kind of universal. They do not cost much. The single chamber ones are pretty useless and not very safe.

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Order one for a 72 truck that has discs in front and drums and back, non-power.

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Yeah we sell those to. Would not really hurt. Mainly its the bore size. The Larger front reservoir really won't matter. Keep the bore size 1"

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Does two-chambers mean you have to have two failures before you have no brakes?

Re: Non power brake master cyl
kinda, it has a individual chamber for each set of brake, one for the front and another for the rear. thats y they have 2 lines going out of the mc. that way if one fails u still have the other

Re: Non power brake master cyl
I talked to John (chiefrocka) before about this, and here is the master cylinder that he said would work. Cheap, for non power brakes, and it bolts right up supposedly!

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Yep, you have to split the front and rear lines into 2 circuits.

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Hey Sal...I have a master off of a 76-77 Full Size GM car....Cutless to be exact....front disc and rear drum.
I bought it new for the car years ago..took it off when the car blew up. Been sitting ever since. You can have it if you think it will work. Let me make sure I still have it on my shelf...

Re: Non power brake master cyl
Why no power brakes with disc brakes? It takes more effort to stop disc brakes because they are not self-energizing like drums.
