Big Block Trees
Can someone tell me why I need to change the trees when I pull the small block for a big one?

Re: Big Block Trees
Motor towers where the motor mounts to the frame and front Xmember?
SBC towers weren't designed for the monster torque of the BB maybe? Same reason you don't find a TH350 behind any BBC from the factory. I would also say the external dimensions are accounted for in the big block towers. Let the fan line up with the rad. shroud, keep the valve covers out of the firewall and brake booster. I won't say you can't use them because someone probably already has and has solved these problems. Last edited by 71tahoe; 09-05-2007 at 07:10 PM. |

Re: Big Block Trees
The SB "Trees" have a smaller stump. Seriousy you need the BB "Trees" to make the exhaust fit right. Useing SB towers with a BB your stock Exhaust Manifolds will hit the frame and I think you have problems with Headers also

Re: Big Block Trees
48ish - you could definitely use the stronger BB parts especially since you have been buying the "tall deck" goodies to put out even more power and torque.

Re: Big Block Trees
strength isn't the issue, it's fitment. The main reason is for exhaust pipe space.
However, a secondary reason, would be so the fan is located properly in the shrowd. |
