Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

There is a member a little north of me with a 69 K20 that has factory 4:56 lockers front and rear so I would assume you could get front posi as a option..It would be listed on the glovebox if dealer installed.

Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

Yep, posi was option..it was typically in the ratio 3.73 in 1/2 ton dana's or 4.56 front of the dana in 3/4 tons.

Stock they were open differentials...Posi or lockers could be dealer ordered for more traction but really, unless ordered with Posi or Lockers, they werent true 4wd...

Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

the only reason i asked is cause i have NEVER seen front positraction on a spid label, and all the posi pickups i have ever seen have only had rear positraction. thanks for the input

Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

I can't remember the option number, but the "no spin" option called for a Detroit Locker in the rear, and I've been told the Detroit Locker in the front axle was a dealer installed option. My 67 K-20 has both lockers in 4.56 gears. It also has a little decal behind the seat above the tank that explains a little about the lockers.

I have seen several SPIDs posted here over the years that list front limited slip. It was definitely a factory option.

Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

He shows the glovebox label in his auction pictures. If you look carefully on the left side 4th line down it says posi traction axle and on the right hand side on the very bottom it says frt. axle posi tract.

Re: Is it possible?? Ebay auction???

I don't think these trucks had factory "lockers" up front...at least I've never seen that. Rear, yes. A positraction, or posi, is NOT a locker.

What I am curious about is what type of posi the factory unit is. Power or track lock?
