which would be better ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...QQcmdZViewItem

this company sells a 327 and a 350 for the same price. free shipping and no core charge.wouldn't parts for the 350 be cheaper?but a 327 would at least be a little less common. so it has some cool factor. which do ya'll think will be the better deal.

There's no replacement for displacement.

Re: which would be better ?

I prefer my 327 to my 350... but they are built completely different. I think the 327's have a cool factor but are kind of out of place in a 70's-80's model truck. I'm not changing mine anytime soon though.

Re: which would be better ?

Very nice wish all my engines were balaced makes a nice difference. AND for part cost alot of what fits a 350 fits a 327 block, pistons, rods. I think heads are the same not shure tho. every thing else that is for looks like covers on every thing and intake is all the same chevy is very interchangable. So cost difference should be really any at all cause all the 327 specics are done.

have a simalar engine sitting in the garage it out of a 66 chevelle ss. its the 327 with the double hump heads. Or least the guy i got the truck from that the engine was said it was out of a 66 chevelle ss but i know it a 327 with double hump.

Plans are to through it in my bros monte carlo he needs a engine his 350 is lockes up by rust.

Re: which would be better ?

For the same price, 350 > 327 IMO. You'll want the extra displacement for torque to get your heavy truck moving. Plus the 327 doesn't have accessory holes in the cylinder heads....

Re: which would be better ?

The only difference (I think) is the crankshaft. You'll probably find that there are more performance parts available which are specifically-designed for the 350. If extra displacement is free, I'll always take it. If you want a powerplant that everyone on your street doesn't already have, you can always bore it or stroke it later.

Re: which would be better ?

i agree too, go with the 350 -- i dont even think a 327 was available in the 70's.
If you had a 65 or '68 rat rod project or something like that -- the 327 would be a little more viable

Re: which would be better ?

The 350 is best for these trucks.

Though a 327, a 4 speed, and some numerically high rear end gear is always fun in a light car, especially if you get a good steel crank 327.
