Quick release steering wheel for '73

After reading that thread, Grant seemed like the quality choice. There are lots of knock offs on eBay, but I'd like it to be quality. Does anybody know if this (or which model) will fit a '73 steering column?

I got a question about that thread, when they say "one more reason to just prime it" and "oh and it's just in primer"?

In other words, make it (the truck body) look not as fancy, or rough, as to deter a thief from thinking about it. When I paint my truck again, which will hopefully be this summer, I'm going with flat black too. Might etch the chrome wheels and paint them gloss black or red. Probably black, due to their design.

Got it! I thought they're talking about manually priming the carb, you know how some real old carbs have that primer for the accel pump or whatever where you have to push on a lever several times, and if you don't it ain't gonna start at all.

Well i can say that I have used grants on both my race cars and street cars over tha last 7 years. I know they are a smaller diamature than what a normal truck wheel is but that helps with play in the wheel a bit helps greatly in looks and is more comfortable and sturdyer than normal wheels. The first pic is what I call a mid totum pole grant and it is 45.00 plus adaptor 10.95 it is in my 92 lwb that i woke up to never see again The second is a low totum pole grant it was 35.00 plus the 10.95 for the adaptor and it was in my current truck befor i started the overhaul. I can sat that to bend a grant you will have to hit a car doing atleat 60 for the first pic you see and 45 for the one in the second pic. The most i have ever spent on a grant was 125.00 and thats because i had to but a 65.00 adaptor so thet it would fit the 93 olds that i gladly traded for the 82lwb.

My cousin gave me the Grant quick release, but I was thinking they were around $150.

I've got one that I purchased back in '93 shortly after Grant came out with it for $85.00 + frt. It really makes it nice to remove the wheel quickly to do any work on or under the dash of your ride. It's lived in my '74 cutlass to a '74 1/2 ton then an '87 astro and now currently resides in my '90 suburban.

I think having that quick release is a great theft deterrent, it would just suck carrying that steering wheel around.

You don't have to carry the wheel around. There is lockable cap that goes with it and you need the to put the wheel back on anyways. I just left mine behind the seat when I used mine.
