grill finish?
i sanded my grill with 60 grit, then 320 then 600 then 1000 grit sand paper, then after that i polished it with aluminium polish. its nice and shiny right now. but in order to keep it like that, some people in this forum say to clear coat it. well if i do, can i just use the clear coat they sell in a bottle like at auto zone or pep boys? or do i have to use a special kind. will it last? this thing looks perfect. it nearly a mirror image, i just want to keep it that way for longer. thanks

it's aluminum, so it shouldnt rust, so just use chrome polish on it every once in i while and it should be fine, i think... : )

i'm doing the same to mine it's looking great but i don't know about the clear coat either. i've seen it peal on wheels and they look awful. i think i'm gonna polish mine and keep it waxed.

I have tried rustoleum clear on a small polished aluminum braket I made once and bubbled up and looked awful.
I have never used this stuff but its made to spray directly onto bare metal. Most everything I've gotten from eastwood so far has worked great. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

OK, coming from a guy that has never done this... I would think paint would be tough because it'll get scratched and stuff hangin out there in the breeze. Maybe wax it?
At any rate, we need pictures... if you got a mirror finish, you're great.

did the same to mine a while back.. it will lose its luster after a bit, youve just got to keep it polished to keep the shine. You got all the sand marks out with 1000 grit? I get the same process going up to 2000 grit.. then hit it with some real fine steel wool.. then the polish.
