World's best Junkyard???
All this happened over the last two weekends actually, but I've been strolling the local pull it yourself and came across a nice surprise!
3 new trucks. A 1967 small window C-10 1972 K10 4 X 4 with AC and a 1969 C-10 Here's a small list of what I've got so far: Perfect hood hinges. Emblems from each truck. The complete 69 original grille with a couple dings in the outer grille, but the inner grill and all other brackets are pristine. An extra set of front grille parking/ turn signal assemblies for the 69 that were in the bed. A complete brake pedal and linkage assembly off the K10, including the power booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve with all the brakets. A decent vent window (passenger) off the 1967. A very straight with no bow whatsoever OE tailgate with Chevy letters and all the linkages, etc. A perfect door off the 69. The automatic power steering column with everything intact and in good condition from the 72. The speedometer cable and guage assembly from the 4 X 4, and the parking brake cables and little spacer things too. An original 4 speed granny low shift knob from the 67. Two sets of fan blades with the fan clutches. The 4 X 4 fan shroud (with one small corner nicked off on one of the top bolt holes, and a 6 cylinder metal fan shroud thingy. A pretty clean fuse box and wiring harness off the AC truck. As many of the bolts and nuts and brackets as I could take off with these parts, enough to fill a coffee can to the top. And last but not least an unbelievably clean AC diverter box and all AC/ heater plastic, levers, etc. And to top it off they were having a 1/2 off sale last week and I got all this for just under $200. Now I just need to find the time to start finishing off my own beater, as I thought I was going to have to buy all this stuff the hard way. Please tell my wife this was a good deal, as she was less than pleased with cleaning out our savings. ![]() ![]() |

Re: World's best Junkyard???
There's a yard about 10 miles from my house that has around 35 of them. I counted (4) AC cab trucks last weekend. He crushes 300 - 400 cars about 3 times a year, but he never crushes any 20's - 50's cars, 60's - '70's muscle cars, or old Chevy trucks among other things. The owner is a really good friend of mine, and I get parts and sometimes whole trucks from him all the time.

Re: World's best Junkyard???
Tell her it would be foolish not to go back and pull all the good sheetmetal off and sell to these hungry truck nuts. You`re looking at covering Christmas shopping,Thanksgiving, and prolly a nice little get-away

Re: World's best Junkyard???
The tailgate alone was prbably worth the entire 200.00. Good sheetmetal sells well on here also! Good job!

Re: World's best Junkyard???
Hey Alabama, Florida Here.
Sounds like you you can get some pretty good parts from your friend at the junkyard. Thankful, he appreciates the classics. I've been searching for a set of rear bumper brackets for my 69' SWB Step Side. Any chance of you finding that? If so, Hit me up with a price and shipping. I usually use DHL for bigger stuff. Thanks Harry |

Re: World's best Junkyard???
I have some good bumper brackets myself. I have 6 parts trucks, and I got 2 of them from him. I have a '69 CST/10 LWB originally 396 truck, a '70 C/10 LWB, '71 GMC LWB fleet, a '69 GMC LWB stepper, a '69 C/10 SWB stepper, a '67 C/10 SWB stepper. I also have a '70 SWB fleet, and a '71 Cheyenne SWB fleet that are good restorable project trucks. These trucks are still easy to find here, and I buy all of them that I can afford for my own trucks and to make a little money to help fund my projects. I have 6 acres of land, and I keep them back in the woods out of sight. Here is a few pics of my mini-junkyard!
