I bought a short block from a guy in OH, 44647... and he doesn't know how to ship it??? I don't either....any help would be GREAT! It will weigh at least 300 pounds.

I usually use DHL to ship stuff. Get an online account with them, you can also check shipping charges online....

I use FedEx Freight for all my LTL shipping, have a great discount with them. No one has yet to touch their prices, service times, or service.

Something that weight will have to be shipped by a freight line company on a pallet. A couier could never get the engine on and off his truck alone plus you would pay a fortune.

If you did use a courier company you would have to make arrangements to p/up at their warehouse. Freight companies deliver to your door and will put it right in your garage with a pallet jack.

Best bet is to have him use some Home Depot 1" nylon ratchet straps, strap it to a 40x48 pallet, throw it in his truck and take it to a freight company's loading dock. Then, have it shipped "Terminal-to-Terminal" that way you pick it up at the trucking companines terminal in your town, for a huge savings over residential delivery.
New common carrier regulations make it realy difficult for the average Joe to ship stuff anymore. Just the new NMFC codes (national motor freight classifications) will drive you nuts. You have to know what NMFC class and what weight class your freight fits into before you can even get something picked up. Plus, lift-gate, residential, or inside pick up all mean extra charges.
