Were their two types of hazard warning knobs?
I have a 71 with a red small hazard warning knob, and today I saw an original owner 71 with a black two piece style warning knob. Plus the way the PRNDL2L1 indicator's are different.
Does anyone have pics or input on which is correct? Thanks! |

Was the other 71 you saw a tilt? IIRC the tilts used the black 2 part one.

Re: Were their two types of hazard warning knobs?
I have a 71 GMC non-tilt 4 on the floor and my column has the black hazard switch. This is on a mostly original truck that has been in the family for the last 30 years.

Yes they used both types and as of yet I have not figured out rhyme or reason to who got red and who the the black switch.

Re: Were their two types of hazard warning knobs?
I thought the red button was standard in ALL 67-72 non-tilt and tilt and that the 2 piece black was used on replacement switches only after the original stock(red) was used up. The red was used in non-tilt vans for quite awhile after 72.
This is just my observations over the years - Bob

Re: Were their two types of hazard warning knobs?
The head is snapped off my red one also. Maybe that is why my other one has a black one?
