For 6 cylinder owners. Exhaust question...

My 68 GMC needs a new exhaust system. Old one has rusted out.

I checked with the local muffler shop and he quoted me app $160-$180 for one. I checked in several catalogs and came up with one at LMC that they sell.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/0086.asp

I have two questions: Has anyone bought this from them or some other site?

And what in the heck is "aluminized steel?"

Thanks...

alumized makes it last longer. call every muffler place in your phone book. i just got a price of 200.00 plus taxes for 2 1/2" duals without the mufflers.
180.00 is high i think.....

Yeah, I thought $180 was sort of high for a single exhaust also, but I haven't had to replace one in 10 yrs or so. This estimate was including the muffler...

The only other exhaust place here is Midas and they've always been on the high side.

I am looking at Walker stuff from Rock Auto $100-$140 depending on which muffler you go with. (main exhaust pipe, muffler and tailpipe)

Has anyone used this setup ? I am going back with stock 250 6cyl.

Seems like a good deal on that as long as you can do the welding yourself. Also, you'll pay for shipping and it might not turn into a good deal with shipping and your labor.

That's what I wanted to know-if someone had done one. Thnx.

You must have bought it some time ago for $99. I'm going to check to see what it costs to ship. That way I can determine if I want to go local or not.

How long have you had it and are you satisfied with the aluminized steel?
