Super charger on a s/b chevy
Has anyone installed a supercharger on their truck? We will be making the attempt this weekend and was just looking for some heads up lessons. Thanks, Mike.

smoked68,
I haven't gotten it in the truck yet, but here is whats going in it. Had actually built the motor normally aspirated, but then got a deal on the blower. Sorry I'm not more help, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, if I can.

Re: Super charger on a s/b chevy
What kinda blower? 871, 671, 471, Weiand 177, 142....That's just part of the roots style blowers out there.......then there's centrifugal blowers too.
Nothing complicated about bolting on a blower if you have all the parts. The only thing I can think of is (at least for the baby blowers) that you have to follow the torque requirements for bolting the blower to the manifold (I think it's only 10 ft lbs for the 142). If you go too tight you could warp the blower case....not good for the tight tolerances of the internal rotating assembly. If your bolting the blower on a relatively stock small block with a cast bottom end, I wouldn't go much over 4-5 lbs of boost.

Re: Super charger on a s/b chevy
CarCraft ran an article about a year ago bolting a 142ci blower on a stock bottom end 350 with a Crane blower cam and a set of Vortec heads and made 450 hp. I want one for my truck so bad I can't stand it, but just can't afford it right now.

Re: Super charger on a s/b chevy
We got it on with no problems, it is the Weiand 142 c.i. as in the last pic. It was bought through Advance Auto parts who matched the Jegs price of 1709. Love it, it is nasty.
