Question Seat idea

Anybody thought about cutting about 12-14" section out of the middle of a '67-'72 bench seat and making their own custom buckets? I picked up a good bench seat today for $20 and thought about seeing what the local creative people could do with it.

Defiantly a interesting idea, but what are you going to do for the rails?
s/t

Re: Seat idea

a second seat would cure that but the ajuster would be on the wrong side and be usless with a console sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me

Re: Seat idea

Doesn't sound good to me. Lots of work cutting and welding and rewiring. I'd just see if I can find some buckets from another vehicle. Maybe a newer one and rework them. I saw some nice ones from a newer truck a few weeks ago. The guy wanted $150 with the center console. Look around salvage yards...

Also, you may want to hold on to the seat if it's complete. They're starting to get old and slightly harder to find in good condition. The foam you can buy new, but the springs are not easy to come by. I haven't found what I need for mine yet.

Just my .02 worth...
