engine question

i've got an 87 gmc jimmy s15 4x4 2.8L FI. i need a new block for it, does anyone know what year range of block will fit besides 87?

I would skip the 2.8, try a 4.3 I like the power better for that size of truck. I've got a 92 with a sport exast with the 4.3 It turnes the tires very good. With the 4x4 you will like the hills better too.

To do a 4.3 swap, you'll need the transmission, and engine subframe too. Might as well just drop a 305 or 350 in it instead.

Wouldn't you also need the computer out of the vehicle with the 4.3? Along with some of the wiring?

forget 350 put a 6.2 diesel now that would have lots of power
