New Member New Jimmy

Hello all, just wanted to say hi. Picked up this Jimmy a couple of days ago from a guy in Oregon, and brought it back here to Boise. Warning: you should all be prepared for stupid questions to follow in succession for the next few weeks. There is some metal work I'll have to do so perhaps I'll start a mild build thread. Anyhow here are some pictures for you guys.

Re: New Member New Jimmy

Thanks all for the welcome. The metal work that needs to be done is primarily in the floor. The rear floor has some rust bubbles but nothing too bad, but the front rockers on both sides have been replaced but not very well. The Welds that were done were rather poor and should probably just be taken out and done again. Also there are some poor welds on the front floor pans.

The top of the windshield frame has had some fiberglass patches so ill have to figure out how to replace that. Ill take a look around the forum and see what I can find, I'm mainly worried about finding the part.

And last but not least the jimmy apparently had dual gas tanks at some point in its life, i guess, because there are two fiberglass patches on the rear of the truck that were cut outs for additional filler spouts.

Oh, almost forgot, it has the rear swing away tire carrier, which i don't want on it, so I'll have too fill in those holes I guess.

I hope thats it but I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking about taking it back to bare metal just to make sure there is nothing else before i paint it. As it was the guy just bought over a grand in parts from LMC that he hadn't put on yet including; new bumpers, mirrors, seals (for everything), vents, etc. So, I'm really eager to get it painted so I can start driving it on and off the roads.
