1971-72 interior door panel question
I have a 1971 chevy truck and need to replace the doors. i found both doors at a good price but they are off a 1972. I wanted to use the metal inner door panels off the 67-71. The salvage yard said I have to use the panels off the 1972 because the 71 panels will not fit. Could someone tell me the difference and how hard it would be to modify the 71 panels to fit the 72 doors???

Re: 1971-72 interior door panel question
The '72 doors have longer window crank and door handle studs, so the regulators would need changing. They also will not have threaded holes in the door to mount the upper strip or the metal door panel. The holes are in the same place in the '72 doors, but they are lot bigger since the '72 panel is held on by plastic clips. It would be a lot of trouble trying to put metal panels on '72 doors.

But the doors will fit... you just have to keep the panels and everything. I have'72 doors on my '70 - btw, welcome to the board.

Re: 1971-72 interior door panel question
Welcome to the board. You could always redrill the '71 chrome strip and door and use the '71 panels but you still need to change the guts of the door with '71 stuff.
