Blackbirds Full Pull @ Spokane 4x4 pull

I would like to start off by thanking Johnnywagon for getting the parts we needed at last minute for our truck..Hell of a guy when you need parts from where he works.

I'll start off now with the report. 0630 (o as in oh my god thats early, when you get in from work at 1:00 am) i got up to get down to Blackbirds shop. He wanted to tow his truck with an early style to the fairgrounds. Of course I didn't hesitate. I have always loved his red truck. (named Rosie).
the truck looked good, all buffed out tuned and loaed with weights under the front bumper for pulling.

You'll see in the first pic, my old 3/4 ton girl had a slight sag in her with the trailer hooked.. No big deal, if a spring hanger broke, I think I knew a shop that could fix it

Well we got to the fair grounds, there was some Bad A$$ tractor/4x4 pulling trucks. I'll try to get all pics that I have uploaded.

The reason I thank Johnnywagon is, well, our truck had a slight carb issue right before we were suppose to stage.the holley850 crapped itself on the back bowl. it just kept filling we took it apart and checked it out and to no avail.. So we tried to use a fuel regulator in hopes that the pump now would over pressure that back bowl....

Raced it and no power, she bogged right down..

We sent some folks back to the shop to get the old 600 edel to put back on it. they gave us a chance at a second run just for tuning. And VOILA....FULL PULL.......300ft.

With the same weight they diesels were pulling. We out pulled I think all but 2 trucks in their class.....

We walked away with a trophy later that night for our evening pull. The track was a little harder. We pulled a 208ft run I think only 3 deisels pulled up to 240ft...

I have a video of one of the pulls I am trying to play with flash player to get it on our site..
But as for now here are some pictures

Another puller here- cool!

Here's some action from around here:

Questions. How do you guys keep the front end planted with the hitch so far back? And, what weight are you running to do it? Anywhere close to that position would send the front tires dangling in the air here on a 6500 lb. truck.

Re: Blackbirds Full Pull @ Spokane 4x4 pull

I've been pulling in a Modified Street class with a 500HP 460ci BBC. I've got 900ish pounds on the weight bar up front. I had major bouncing issues pulling from the rear bumper hitch. I fabbed up a different hitch within class rules pulling all the weight right over the rear axle...no more bounce! We have a 6200 pound weight limit.

I'm putting together another engine for Pro-Stock...475 cube limit...iron heads only...single carb only....65 lift cam max. I'm shooting for 750 HP on this engine.

Re: Blackbirds Full Pull @ Spokane 4x4 pull

I added the video of the full pull..

As for how we keep the front down. If you look at the pics of the red truck you 'll see under the front bumper a big black area.. Thats all weight... We weighed in around 72-7300lbs.

They broke the classes up at 6800..
As for the hitch we had to be close or at 26".
Here is the link again to the video
I'll try to get more
