6 cyl engine/trans mounting-how to? Pics please

Ok my truck was disassembled when I got it so I didn't see how things were mounted and put together. What I'm needing now is some pics of a 250 I6 from the side and the motor mounts. I've been looking for parts and have seen that there are rear engine mounts. Where do the rear engine mounts connect to the engine and to the frame. Just looking at my truck I don't get it. I'm a visual person and learn better by pictures (don't tell my wife that )

If anyone has any pics of how they mounted their I6 and transmission i would appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.

As the saying goes, "A picture says a thousand words." I hear you about "pics." I think most of us are that way.

I have an inline six on my 68 GMC but it's 30 miles out in the country. If you don't get someone else that can post a pic, I will try to get some for you this weekend.

Anyway, here's a bump ttt for you.

I don't have a pic, but there is a crossmember that the bellhousing bolts to. The rear mounts look like transfercase mounts. Upper and lower rubber with a bolt through them. Some one I'm sure has a picture. The manual crossmember is different than the auto crossmember.

I'll try to get pics today. I'll be working on getting my T-5 back in anyway.

mvfd70, don't know if you still need the pics of the rear of the inline six. Here's a couple I took today. If you need another angle let me know. I'll be back out where my truck is tomorrow...

Pardon the mud dobbler's nest. I need to get in there an clean up the &*%$

Thanks. Those pics are what I needed to see. I didn't think the transmission was going to support the weight of the back of the engine. My truck originally came with a 3 speed. Was there no rear transmission crossmember for that?

Re: 6 cyl engine/trans mounting-how to? Pics please

my dad's 71 GMC with 250 6 and 3 OTT does not have a trans cross member. I thought someone had taken it out,but I looked at another truck a buddy just bought, a 72 w/ 6 cyl and 3spd and it did not have a trans cross member. He said he had another 72 like it a long time ago and it also did not have a trans x member. I wil try and remember to ask my bro. , as he had a 72 5 cyl 3 OTT truck yrs ago. He might remember

Ok that helps a lot. I thought the crossmemeber that is there was the tranny crossmember. I did not know how the engine and trans were gonna fit there. It all makes a lot more sense now. thanks

Re: 6 cyl engine/trans mounting-how to? Pics please

The standard three speed sixes did not have the crossmember for the trans. When I saw mine for the first time, I thought the same thing you all did.

Now I have a fully synchronized saginaw three speed on my GMC. It has the place in the rear for a rubber trans. mount but I just installed it like my previous non sychronized trans. with no crossmember.
