Classic insurance?

I recently got a newer dalily driver ('01 Tundra) so my 87 is in storage right now. I just switch coverage over to the newer truck, so the 87 is currently uninsured. I was wondering about classic insurance. I just want some cheap insurance to be legal when I get her back on the road during weekends, etc. I heard classic insurance is a good bargain. Any opinions?

Re: Classic insurance?

A couple of friends of mine have Hagerty, and say they love it! There's a lot of hassle to go through in the beginning (appraisal...) but in the end, it sounds like it would be worth it.

Re: Classic insurance?

Your truck looks pretty nice -- i would advise against getting liability only insurance too if you can help it--- comp. is almost a must have in Oklahoma because of the dang tornadoes -- (and here lately the flooding- LOL)

Re: Classic insurance?

Hrmmm....not sure if my company is availabe in OK, I have classic insurance on my 78' stepside which gives it full coverage and I think something like 1200 miles a year. The price isn't bad at all, It's $120 for my stepside and my blazer together, I think the stepper is only like $36 or something. Btw those prices are per month...

[EDIT]: oh, and the company is called SAFECO Ins.

Re: Classic insurance?

Anthony and Grande, they don't offer insurance in Oklahoma.
And I seriously doubt I could get that cheap of rate through Geico.
Hagerty says the vehicle must be 1986 or older.

The search continues....

Re: Classic insurance?

State Farm has no problem insuring a "specialty vehicle" as long as you get a value estimate from a classic car shop and supply 4 color photos (front 3/4, rear 3/4, interior and engine bay) Mine started at $280/yr full coverage for $7300 value, I got $19,200 insured value, and they are charging me $295!!! no milage limit - full value coverage

Re: Classic insurance?

couldnt tell ya brother... Im with USAA pay 12 bux a month for liability until she hits 30...then I can put antique insurance (from usaa, its better than full coverage).

only downfall is, you have to be military to get USAA.

You need to call Hagerty, I have a whole gang of cars with them from 2002 down to my 51, no limit on the driving .They'll ask what you use your truck for( cars shows or what ever)and where you store it. You need to have at least one or two cars insured with farmers or geico,to prove it's not your every day driver, then let them know it is a classic restored send pictures of the bed and side shot, 1-800-922-4050 tell em dino sent ya
