Re: suspension ?
no problem, if you go 7" you'll need the notch though. I'm at 6" right now without a notch and i never hit the frame yet.

Re: suspension ?
At the moment I am less than impressed with DJM. I was told I wouldn't need a notch on my '06 with a 4" shackle/hanger drop but I got tired of it bottoming out every-other bump in the road.
This is amongst other issues. And may have no bearing on 73-87 truck... Quote:

Re: suspension ?
Generally anything over 5" requires a notch. If you are at 6" now it is only a matter of time before you bottom it out.

I flipped my rear on the 79 and it needs a notch. And I know,, they say you dont need to but last time I went over a set of R&R I almost lost a filling. The clearance between the axle and frame is like 2". GMC Pauls looks like they have a nice set at a good $. Its what Im gonna go with.

Re: suspension ?
Iassume all of you have removed the frame bumper stop bracket . If removed you should still have 2.5- 3 in clearance with a 6 in drop . If you are 7- 8 in , yes c notch for sure. 5- 6 in is a matter of personal preference as to c notch or not
