Anyone running an radiator burp bottle??

got home today and the radiator was burping a bit on me. probably a quarter of a beer can (or soda if you like) burped through the overflow tube. it wasn't much, but it struck me that all I really needed was a simple burp bottle. the temp gauge was under half way, so it wasn't running hot.

so anyone have any good ideas and pics????

I using one off a mid 80's model Buick Regal. Some folks use a washer fluid bottle so it will look stock, amongst a bunch of other ideas, from Mt Dew cans to custom pieces.

Lots of guys using them. There are several different versions from Mt Dew Bottles to hot water bottles. Some have actually gone billet. Try Summit or Jegs.

Make sure to change out the radiator cap to the correct one that lets the burped out water back in the system when it cools.

Re: Anyone running an radiator burp bottle??

On many SB and some BB I have gone both ways - with and without - although have been told by experts that these cooling setups are NOT intended for puke tank add-ons. It seems to work OK both ways - but as Ron586 said, changing to correct rad cap in esential.

Re: Anyone running an radiator burp bottle??

I just put a bottle at the bottom of the hose and was wondering why it was still not going back in. Didn't even think it could be the cap.

As soon as I get my psgr inner fender back in, I'll show you a picture of my 1998 montecarlo burp tank installation.

Re: Anyone running an radiator burp bottle??

I just used another windshield washer bottle. Don't remember the p/n for the cap. Just ask for a cap for a closed system.
