Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
Crossroads time on the old project pile....
I need to clear out the used car lot that my house has become and I'm getting stuck on the choice between the 71 K5 and the 51 Willys Wagon. I'm looking for some thoughts and opinions that may help swing my vote. As a little background, and to give you some idea of where I'm coming from and left with regarding vehicle purposes, the project pile stacks like so: 1) 1971 K5 Blazer, 35's & 6" lift, 350/350/205, D44/12 bolt w/ 3.73s 2) 1951 Willys Wagon, 33's and some lift, 283/SM420/D18+Warn OD, D44 w/ARB's front & rear w/ 5.38s 3) 1987 Jeep Wrangler, 35's on SOA + 1" body, AMC401/T5/NP231, D30/D35 w/3.55s 4) 1975 Jeep CJ5, 33's 2" lift + 3" body, 4.2l/T18/D20, D44 front and rear w/4.27s 5) 1973 Scout II, 30's at stock height, 345/727/D20, D44 front and rear (not sure of ratios) 6) 2003 Jeep Wrangler - stock 4.0L/auto (wife's driver) 7) 1997 Ford F150 2WD, 33's on 3" lift, 4.6L/auto (son's driver) 8) 1947 Chevy C3100 5 window shortbed (don't ask about drivetrain...) 9) 1966 Ford Mustang coupe, 250 inline 6 with 4 speed 10) 1990 Ford Mustang LX convertible 5.0/auto (my daily driver) 11) 2002 Ford Lightning SVT 5.4 supercharged (long term project-drag truck) Most of these can be seen at my photobucket account at http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f388/herb101/, if the picture affect the decision. Simple and short list of 'givens' - the Lightning, Fox Mustang, 03 Jeep and 5-window are keepers. The Scout is going, as is the CJ5, the 97 F150 and the 66 coupe. The 401 is going separate and the 87 Wrangler is getting a 4.0L inline six with factory MPI fuel injection for my son. I want to keep both the K5 and the Willys, but I really can't - in fact, I should sell them both. They both will require about the same amount of body, paint and interior work to get them to 'final' condition. I have a full TPI set-up that will work with either and I have a 700R that is slated for the Blazer. Anyway, maybe a poll is the easiest way to help me decide - vote & tell my why, if you would. Thanks for your time and thoughts, Herb Edit - here's a photo of each to make it easier: Last edited by herb101; 09-24-2007 at 09:20 PM. Reason: Added Pics |

Exactly what I was thinking. Here's a thread of a board member down south looking for one - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=258416

Re: Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
I voted to keep the Blazer.
For style, drivability and parts availability. Dont get me wrong, I had a '59 willys truck, and I sure wish I still had it. Certainly a tough decision.

Re: Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
Please don't tell my K5 and K20 I voted for you to keep the Willys! That is a very nice looking Willys - not alot of either of those vehicles left but alot less Willys IMO so it gets my vote.

Re: Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
Herb101...I am trying to figure out the same thing right now!!! Keep the Blazer or buy my uncles 1946 Chevy pickup. I didn't use the Blazer that much this year and hard to justify keeping around....not that I would use a 1946 much more.
Thanks for the info awhile back about the soft top! Worked and looks great for a Bestop. Picture was taken the first day it was on and looks a lot better now.

Re: Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
I voted for the Blazer. I guess it's because I have wanted one ever since I turned 16. I think it would be a very nice truck with the TPI and a 700r4.

Re: Keep the Blazer or......? (long - warning)
Keep the blazer for sure. Especially since there's about 5 or six of us from S.A. on the forum. I also have a 65 willys gladiator and a 72 cst. The gladiator is gonna go up on craigslist in the next couple of weeks, but the blazer is staying with me. Later, Mario
